Hollow vs. Solid Needle

Rule (f) “Only hollow needles are to be used for piercing"

not only prohibits an existing alternative
it discourages
 improvements & technological advancement
(unless it is a hollow needle!). 
 
Rule (f) prohibits an existing alternative
 used for more than 20 years, the "non-hollow"
solid Sleeved Piercing Needle which combines
a Catheter Sleeve with a solid Suture Needle
both medically in use. Cannula (hollow) needles
are not used for piercing skin to insert sutures.

Cannula are used for body-piercing because
they are historically used, readily available,
easy to use and low in cost.

This question must be answered:
Why this rule and why now?

An article in Today's Medical Developments, MAY 2021
"Human tendons inspire surgical sutures"
(inserted with solid needles) rough suture thread constantly
rubbing during motion can slice and damage tissues.
No mention of any harm from suture solid needles.

Rule (f) (hollow needles)

1. Solid Sleeve Needle in use for 20 years
proves Rule (f) false.

Currently only 14 Gauge Solid Needles are available.
Sleeves are not sold separately because
EO Gas is the only method of sterilization.

Rule (f) (threading) eliminates another development.

Stepped-Down JEWELRY Threading
is Prohibited by Rule (h) in new piercings
because it is external.

Stepped-down threading jewelry
fits inside the back of the same gauge needle.
For 14 Gauge Needle the threading is 16 Gauge.
For 16 Gauge jewely the threading is 18 Gauge.

3. Rule (f) prevents the use of the internally threaded needle designed to be used with external.

Internally Threaded Needle

Same size needle and same size jewelry

These two rules should be forgotten.
